Ten people have been confirmed dead following the attack in Dutsen-Wake and Oho Villages in Birnin-Magaji local government area of Zamfara state. The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Muhammad Shehu who made the confirmation to the News Agency of Nigeria in Gusau on Wednesday said the bandits attacked the two villages on Tuesday around 10 pm. “We received distress call yesterday that the bandits attacked the area around 10 p.m. We quickly responded by mobilising policemen to the area, led by Area Commander Kaura-Namoda Police Area Command and Divisional Police Officer of Birnin-Magaji Division. “When they arrived the area the bandits had already fled to Rugu forest bordering Zamfara with Katsina state. “They discovered 10 dead bodies killed by the bandits, Seven in Dutsen-Wake and Three in Oho village”, he said. A man was beaten and humiliated after he threw alligator pepper into a grave during a burial. The man was made to jump into the grave to pick up the alligator pepper and forced to eat it. The incident is believed to have occurred in one of the South-eastern states.

A 35-year-old man has been apprehended by security officials in Niger State for dousing hot water on his own mother after previously trying to kill her twice. The gallant operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Niger State Command, have arrested a 35-year-old man, Musa Umar, for pouring hot water on his mother in Minna, the state capital. According to PUNCH Metro, Umar was believed to be under the influence of alcohol and cannabis while carrying out the act which caused his mother grievous injuries. It was gathered that the suspect who lived on Okada road with his mother was known for excessive consumption of alcohol. While confessing to his crime, he said; “I actually poured the hot water on her without any genuine reason. I am ok, I don’t regret it.” It was learnt that Umar had attempted to kill his mother twice by hitting her with stones and stabbing her with knife. At least 11 African countries did not vote for Morocco to host the 2026 World Cup. They are: Benin, Guinea, Liberia, Mozambique, Namibia, Sierra Leone, South Africa and Zimbabwe. Botswana, Cape Verde and Lesotho are the other countries. Instead they opted for a joint bid of the United States of America (USA), Mexico and Canada, which eventually won the hosting rights. Morocco would have been the second African nation to host the tournament, after South Africa did in 2010. The result was determined by more than 200 national soccer federations, who cast their ballots to cap FIFA’s annual Congress. The 2026 tournament will feature an expanded field of 48 teams, an increase from the current 32. It will also mark the first time in FIFA’s history, that a three-nation bid has been awarded the showpiece event.

The Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide, an umbrella body of Ijaw youths, has condemned the killings of four persons during a military invasion of Oluasiri community in the Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. During a security operation on Thursday, a mother and her six-month-old baby and two other persons were reportedly killed by soldiers. Southern City News reports that the military operation was launched to dislodge suspected militants and sea pirates, allegedly hiding in Oluasiri community. While some security personnel claimed the soldiers opened fire on the community following gunshot attacks from the suspected militants, the indigenes of Oluasiri community denied the claim, insisting that the military attack was unprovoked. Reacting to the killings, the Chairman of IYC, Central Zone, Mr Tare Porri, said the invasion was a provocative action by the military, alleging the development confirmed the suspicion that the military was sectional and biased. Those rescued include: a. Three men. b. Two women. c. Three children. Items recovered from the bandits include: a. One red Golf car. b. One trailer. c. Two boxes of clothes belonging to one of the passengers. Also, troops on patrol to Nachibi village recovered a motorcycle abandoned by the bandits on sighting the troops. Similarly, troops encountered bandits at Maidaro village where they were rustling some cows. Three members of the vigilante sustained gun shot wounds while one person was killed in action during the encounter. One motorcycle was recovered from the bandits.

A worker with a bank in Lagos State, identified only as Bunmi, has been declared wanted for allegedly defrauding some customers of the bank. It was learnt that Bunmi hacked into customers’ bank accounts and diverted over N3m into some private accounts. Punch gathered that the fraud was uncovered after owners of the accounts complained about their disappearing funds, which made the bank to institute a probe. The bank management reportedly blocked the accounts into which the funds were transferred. Owners of the blocked accounts, who were reportedly unaware that their accounts were being used for fraud, were said to have reported at their various branches and complained of the development. The bank management was said to have handed them over to the police. The Zone 2 police spokesperson, CSP Dolapo Badmos, said further investigations led to the arrest of Bunmi’s accomplices – Babalola Akinyele, aka Olumba; and Adeshina Adenekan, aka Oluwo Ake. Singer, Iyanya has come out to correct the notion that he left Triple MG to sign with Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records. He claimed that it was only an arrangement ahead of the plan for Temple Music. Via a thread of tweets, Iyanya has clarified the topic of his ‘signing’ with Mavin Records. The singer stated that he left his former label, Triple MG, and signed off his share to his former partner, Ubi Franklin. Iyanya further stated that contrary to the public opinion that he signed for Mavin Records after leaving Triple MG in 2016, his relationship with the label was only an affiliation and that no contract was signed. He revealed in his post that it was the idea of Idris Olorunnimbe, the founder of Temple Company- the parent company of his new label, Temple Music. After that, Iyanya saluted Don Jazzy for the role he played in the transitioning process. He hinted that he is now in a good creative space to make music and left a note for his fans to anticipate his next release.

A Nigerian pastor and his wife with their twin babies have reportedly survived a ghastly motor accident in Benin. Mr Chinedu Amirinta is a Nigerian pastor who recently escaped tragic death with his family in an accident. The pastor took to his Facebook page to thank God after his wife, his twins and himself, survived a ghastly motor accident near Benin while on their way to Lagos for the children’s Thanksgiving. This female green anaconda was photographed at a small reptile conservation park run by a Peruvian biologist here in Puerto Maldonado, Peru. Despite not being wild, this snake is impossibly strong and could easily hurt or kill someone. But as you can see, she has no interest in that, and neither do wild anacondas. In fact, the only wild anaconda we've seen thus far promptly slithered away as fast as lighting when she saw us approaching - and she was about 15 feet! Like all of us, snakes simply want to be left alone. As you can see in this picture she is peacefully resting her head in the palm of @paulrosolie 's hand. She stayed like this for several minutes and only moved when Paul was no longer able to support her weight. She was about 10-11 feet in length and 80-100 pounds. Sitting in his Minneapolis office, Canadian Consul General Paul Connors stresses that his country does not want to apply new tariffs on roughly $264 million worth of Minnesota products that are shipped north of the U.S. border each year. Those levies will add $35 million annually to the cost of certain Canadian-bound Minnesota metals, food, wood and paper products.
